About Owner

Chalet USA owners Helen Gienke & Rob Brown stumbled upon Colorado, USA in 2001, whilst on career break from their UK Marketing jobs, skied there all winter & never looked back. We wanted to share this fantastic USA ski holiday experience with other UK skiers, so we set up Chalets USA in 2004. We live in Colorado, know the ski resorts and the accommodation and can give you advice of finding the right skiing holiday for you. www.chalets-usa.co.uk

Why should you book your ski holiday in the USA?

The USA is growing into one of the most popular places on earth to ski, and here are our reasons why..

#1 Range of Ski Runs

There are not only a huge range of ski resorts in the USA, but the runs themselves differ greatly, and this is why we are here to advise you on where to go and what to ski. For example, Winter Park in Colorado has really quiet slopes during the weekdays, so beginners are welcome to inch down the slope if they need to. On the other hand, Jackson Hole's (Wyoming) runs are 90% Intermediate to Expert/Advanced, with 50% being Expert and Advance alone. This resort is infamous for Courbet's Couloir, a daring venture, along side all the other black and double diamond black runs.

#2 Better Snow

Not only do you get more snow in the USA, many people are astounded by the quality of the snow. A powder day is a sought after snow day by any skier or snowboarder, and in the USA it is difficult to find better. At Steamboat Springs, Colorado the snow there is nicknamed "Champagne Powder" thanks to the beautiful ungroomed glade runs. When it comes to more snow, there is no better than the USA, especially this season. Jackson Hole so far has accumulated 593 inches of snow, and ski resorts in California such as Mammoth are coming in with results up to 330 inches. Whereas, European snow peaks at around 120", and Australian totals for this season average at 190", at Perisher.

#3 Incredible Nature

No one can overlook the legendary beauty of the Back Bowls at Vail's mountains, these immense creations from nature are like nothing else, and to ski them is every keen snow go-er's dream. The mountains in the USA, aside from those in Alaska, summit at up-to 14,000ft. Being in this kind of colossal environment changes your experience of the mountains, it can make you feel on top of the world, taking you back to the very roots of nature. Amazing.

#4 Choice for All

With the introduction of the Epic Pass by Vail Resorts, you can jump between resorts, try out all the terrain from as many resorts as possible. The pass includes: Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Whistler, Keystone, Park City, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood. Flexibility like this doesn't exist many other places in the world, so if you want your trip to be full of new adventures then the USA is a natural place for you to go.
