The Best of Breck - places to eat, restaurants, cafes and aprés ski
During our visit to Breckenridge Ski Resort this week, we decided to check out some of the best places to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We know that eating out is all part of the ski holiday experience, from morning wake-ups to aprés ski blow-outs. So, its really important to us that we try out these locations to make sure that we can recommend the best places, and offer our best service.
During the stay, we were lucky enough to be placed in two accommodations; The Village Hotel, and Beaver Run Resort. Both of these ski in, ski out properties have on site catering as well as many other amenities including: gym, pools, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms.
As breakfast is included with the hotel rooms at The Village, it was a necessity to check this out. The breakfast buffet offers a wide range of hot and cold foods, coffee, tea and juices. From American favourites like biscuits and gravy, to the English classics, this is a real crowd pleaser. The Village also boasts the Park Avenue Pub, a restaurant and bar on site, with an inviting atmosphere to help you unwind.
As for Beaver Run, with 9 different eateries, the possibilities are endless. There are places for sit down breakfasts/dinners, quick take out for those of you that want to head straight to the slopes as well as cafes and coffee dispensaries for that caffeine kick. We sampled their main restaurant Spencer's Steakhouse for both lunch and dinner during our stay. It has a great selection for both mealtimes, including a lunch buffet and chef specials. A great atmosphere and friendly staff really add to the feel of a relaxed and social eating out experience. Elsewhere in Beaver Run we visited the aprés ski bars that boast live entertainment and pool tables for that post-ski party!
Elsewhere at Breckenridge we sampled a few other eateries in the historic town. For breakfast we tried two places that are new to us: The Crown and Park & Main. These were two very cosy but also different places to eat breakfast. The Crown has a warming pub-like feel to the surroundings as it converts to a bar from the cafe in the evenings. With a modern breakfast menu (we recommend the Power Toast or Peerless), Pastries and great coffee, this should definitely be on your list of places to go for breakfast in Breck.
Secondly, Park & Main is open all day for every mealtime, with a huge range of modern foods from Asian to Italian. Our breakfast visit fulfilled our every desire. For those craving an all American pancake or waffle, then you'll be suited here. Likewise, if the need is more specific, then there are loads of choices to build your own breakfast burrito or sandwich that will really kick start your day.
A top tip for evening dining and drinking is The Brewery at Breckenridge, a returning favourite of ours, with craft beers to remind you of home and great all-American cuisine, this is the ultimate place to up the ambience of your ski holiday. Make sure to try the fish and chips as well as the great mix-and-match style burgers that are completely customisable. Every ski holiday needs a warming pub to serve homely foods and beautiful beers that protect from the cold!
We hope your stay at Breck is as full of great food and great skiing as ours was!!
